Iron

It is a metal in the first transition series. 

It is the most common element (by mass) forming the planet Earth as a whole

, forming much of Earth's outer and inner core. It is the fourth most common element in the Earth's crust.

 

Iron base are the most commonly used material in powder metal parts. 

The parts will have density can reach between 6.6 to 7.2 g/cc after sintering. 

The hardness is around 40 to 80 (HRB). Moreover, components can easily have secondary process: sizing, grinding, machining, heat treatment …etc.
